COACH'S CORNER........

2/11/2010
Parents,

The schedule for the last 2 weeks of February and the first week of March is attached (click links below). The practice times must be considered "tentative" as they are based on both the girls and boys basketball teams still playing in their respective tournaments. If one or both were to lose, we would likely either move practice time up to an earlier slot, or perhaps move the location from the Aux gym to the Main gym. I will update everyone asap if any changes are to be made.

Please also note the date of the player meeting (those trying out for Varsity) has been moved from Friday to Thursday of next week. The time listed is the time practice is to begin, not the time players should arrive. Players should be at the school in practice clothes and shoes and ready to go at the time listed.

The parent meeting is Thursday, February 18 from 7-8. Again, remember, if anyone wants to come to a rules meeting (explain the basics for new players and parents), we will start that at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center.

SPIRIT PACKS:
This year, players have the option of purchasing all or part of the spirit packs (sweatshirt, t-shirt, and sweatpants). Socks and "spankies" are not being offered for purchase this year, but we do have a limited supply of each remaining. Parents may also purchase items if they so desire. All orders must be finalized by the end of the evening on Thursday, February 18. Prices are as listed below:

T-shirt (no name and number): $9
T-shirt (with name and number): $17

Sweatshirt (all include name and number): $28

Sweatpants (all include number): $22

T-shirts and sweatshirts are cardinal. Sweatpants are black. A design should be available to look at at the parent meeting on February 18.You can either fill out the form and return it via email, or you can print it out and have your daughter bring it with her to lifting/conditioning/etc.

First, a reminder that the orders from the Poinsettia Sale will be due no later than Friday, November 13. Money raised from this fundraiser directly benefits each individual player, so I encourage all of you to sell as much as you can. If you have lost the info or need another order form, the information is posted on our website (wnladylax.com). Here is a direct link to the poinsettia info: http://wnladylax.com/uploads/POINSETTIA_SALE_2009_WNGL.pdf

Weightlifting Info
This week, the winter schedule for the wight room goes into effect. We will stay on Monday and Thursday evenings. However, we will use the FREE WEIGHT ROOM from 7-8 on MONDAY and THURSDAY!

For at least November, we will also some gym time on Thursdays (not required). This information will be coming shortly (probably tomorrow).

For those girls interested in trying out for the Varsity team (remember, there are no tryouts or cuts for JV - anyone who wants to play can play), we will begin VARSITY CONDITIONING starting Tuesday, November 10. Conditioning will run every Tuesday night from 6-7 at the high school. Conditioning is open to girls of all levels, but it is highly expected that ALL girls who want to play Varsity will take part on a regular basis. I encourage everyone to take part, regardless of your grade level or of your experience with lacrosse.

Weightlifting and conditioning are not mandatory, nor can they be made mandatory. It is understood that some people may have jobs, family matters, extra schoolwork, etc that prohibit them from attending these activities.

If anyone has questions related to weightlifting, conditioning, indoor league, or anything else, please let me know.

10/27/09
I have attached the schedule for the indoor games as well as the rosters for the 2 teams. Weeks when both teams play on Wednesdays (5 of the 8 weeks), I may split girls up differently than what the two rosters say. However, for the weeks when just one WNHS team plays on Tuesday/Wednesday, please play with your assigned team.

For new players, it will be difficult the first few weeks and you may feel like you're just standing out there. I can't coach you while you're playing, but my advice is to be aggressive. It's better to make a bunch of mistakes and learn from them than it is to be afraid to make any mistakes at all.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Just a reminder for any NEW girls, we will have our last day of the clinic tomorrow from 4:30-6ish (in the AUX gym).

After we are done, anyone who wants to go is invited to come to Cici's for a "team dinner." Since indoor starts next week, I thought it would be nice for everyone to try and get together to do something before it starts. New girls, you can ride along with any of the juniors or seniors. Returning girls, you're welcome to come to the clinic to help or you can just meet us at Cici's around 6:15-6:30.

For girls who don't drive, you can have your parents pick you up from Cici's, arrange a ride home with one of the girls who drove, or someone can return you to the high school after we are done eating.

I'm not sure how much Cici's costs, but I'm pretty sure it is under $10 per person.

I would really like to see as many people come out as possible, especially the new girls.

10/13/2009
Indoor league, starts Tuesday, October 27. Our team will play Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays at 4:00 at All-Stars (@ The Continent - 71 and 161).

You can turn the papers in at lifting, at the clinic next week, or to the girl's lacrosse mailbox in the Athletic Office.
Payment is due before we start playing games.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I would like to get these in ASAP.

9/29/2009
Sorry for the late notice, but because it is getting dark much earlier, open nets on Tuesdays will now be from 3:30-5:00.

Also, I wanted to remind all parents and players that there our annual fall parent/player meeting will be Wednesday, October 7, at 6:30 in the high school Media Center. Even if your daughter cannot make it (due to fall sports, etc), it is imperative for a parent to be there. There will be very important forms and, more importantly, fundraising information distributed.

If you have any questions about the meeting or anything else, do not hesitate to contact me.
